About New York Uniquity

Ever since I can remember, whether out camping or hiking in the woods with one of my grandfathers, I've found myself in great admiration of nature and all of its treasures. I've always liked rocks--  picking them up, inspecting them, looking at them with great intrigue, and admiring them for whatever beauty they offer.  Every one has a story, a history of sorts.  Where it's been and how it has formed is just part of its story.  Many take hundreds, if not thousands or millions of years to form.

Before long I found myself collecting rocks--  specimens at gift shops, souvenirs on family vacations, a dusty box at a yard sale.  I became a rock hound, always looking for something new and unique.  It didn't have to be something that was showy or flashy, just different.  Whether it was a certain color, texture, shape or irregularity, I started to see something in every one that made it special.  There are a lot of rocks in the world, so this has been a lifelong journey and a great learning experience.

As my collection continued to grow, I had the desire to show them and share them with family and friends.  In time, it became boring to just say, "Hey, look at this rock.  Isn't it cool?"  I needed to do something different with them rather than just collect dust somewhere or bore people to death with a geology lesson.  After much thought and deliberation, the idea came about to start making jewelry.

Combining precious metals with precious/semiprecious gems, I work with all types of material to showcase the qualities that make each one unique. Natural or enhanced, raw and pure. Rough or smooth, polished and finished. From all parts of the world, but mostly things that can be found right here in my home state of New York, I use the treasures that nature has provided me and make them into treasures for others to enjoy. But I wanted to do more than that, and this is how the journey took the next turn.

I came up with a brand, a label, and a theme. New York Uniquity was born.  Uniquity is defined as a state of uniqueness, and New York is my home state.  And if any of you know anything about New York, you could go on for days about something unique to NY that you either love or hate.

I then needed a marketplace, so I turned to the internet.  Through a process that has taken nearly two years, I have finally found a host that provides me with the ability to both design and maintain my own page.  I present to you, New York Uniquity.

Each piece is handmade and designed by me.  All materials used are exactly as shown and described.  At this time I specialize mainly in Sterling Silver, but have dabbled in Fine Silver (99.9% Pure) and Gold plated Sterling (Vermeil) with various items in my collection.  I try to use naturally occurring gems in all of my designs, but from time to time will use material that has been enhanced through processes common within the world of gems.  All items made using materials of this nature will be noted in the descriptions portion of the listing. On a rare occasion or two I have used a synthetic material, and I will also clearly note these occurrences in the description.

With that all being said, every item is shipped Priority Mail via the USPS.  Insurance and tracking will be provided by me.  Most designs are sent displayed on a custom jewelry card, and nestled inside of a silver organza pouch.  When necessary, some items will be sent in a custom box or other form of packaging.  Either way, every item is ready for gifting, whether for you or a friend or a loved one.

I hope you've enjoyed learning a bit about me and my business, and I thank you for taking the time to look around.  Check back often for new listings, other news, and upcoming events.   Feel free to like us on Facebook, and please be sure to share this page with friends and family!
